We Heart Haiti

We know that Chuck fans have a heart for the people of Haiti, but rather than adding yet another fundraising effort to the already confusing mix of Haitian relief funds, We Heart Chuck has decided to provide some links to other sites and articles that list many trustworthy support options.

CharityWatch.org provides a list of top-rated charities involved in the Haitian earthquake relief efforts. The charity organizations have been rated by The American Institute of Philanthropy (AIP), a leading charity watchdog that evaluates fundraising organizations according to the portion of their budget going to program services, their fundraising efficiency, as well as other factors. Also, WhatGives.com and the Huffington Post both do a good job of presenting, explaining and providing links to different ways we can participate in providing relief to the people of Haiti. Consider checking with your employer to see if they have a matching program for charitable donations. Even if we can't do much as individuals, if corporations match what we give, our impact is doubled!

Unfortunately, when disasters happen, there are many fraudulent groups that attempt to cash in on the kind intentions of those who are trying to help. The FBI has put out a couple of alerts for the general public. The initial alert from the FBI can be found here: http://www.fbi.gov/cyberinvest/escams.htm. A second alert gives more guidance on where to file complaints should someone become a victim of Haitian earthquake relief fraud: http://www.ic3.gov/media/2010/100118.aspx.

Chuck fans, thank you for being more than a normal fan group.
