History & Mission
While the NBC show Chuck was on the renewal "bubble" in Spring 2009, a group of Chuck fans banded together to create the "We Heart Chuck: Have a Heart – Renew Chuck” AHA Campaign. To make their wishes known to NBC decision makers, approximately 600 fans helped raise over $18,000 for the American Heart Association in the name of Chuck Bartowski, sending NBC executives a message card from the AHA with each donation made. The AHA was chosen because they are the partner charity of Subway, a prominent sponsor of the series. This was just one of several "Save Chuck" efforts that developed during that time, and collectively these have become case studies for management teams studying successful social networking efforts.
The mission of the We Heart Chuck website is to be a portal to the various websites that support Chuck and to be a platform where new ideas to promote the show can be introduced and promoted. We Heart Chuck supports the show and its fans by being a gateway to “everything Chuck”: the fansites and fan campaigns, media reviewers and bloggers, and the advertisers who make it possible for Chuck to air. It is not our intention to infringe upon any other website or effort as we support all who support Chuck. Because we want the show’s sponsors to know we value them, their contact information is listed so that you can thank them for their continued sponsorship and let them know that because of it, you have purchased their products and will continue to do so.
The AHA campaign, now called simply “We Heart Chuck”, will continue as a means for viewers to have their voices heard by NBC and others with whom Chuck fans wish to communicate. We plan on developing ideas for fan campaigns that will include more ways to donate to the AHA and hope to eventually expand to other initiatives of interest to Chuck fans. At this time, we welcome to the We Heart Chuck team the fan campaign wizards, Wendy Farrington, of the successful Finale and a Footlong campaign, and Magnus Anton Lekay, of the ongoing ChuckMeMondays campaign and ChuckYouTuesday podcast. They have been of great help to We Heart Chuck and will continue to offer invaluable support and advice. We are also pleased to introduce Mark Stephens, who has had years of experience in other national fundraising efforts. Mark will help We Heart Chuck coordinate future AHA fundraising campaigns and will also provide news and information regarding the different charities that Chuck cast and crew members currently support and participate in. And I’m Laurie, the We Heart Chuck campaign leader. You can find more information about all the WHC site contributors on our Team Members’ Info page.
Thank you, Chuck fans, for contributing your talents and efforts to all the fan campaigns, doing your part to bring Chuck back for another season – you’re awesome! Our hope is that together we will be able to keep Chuck on the air for many seasons to come.
